Lesson 8: Role of Citizen in the Election

 

The election is the spirit of democracy and good governance. A periodical the election is most essential for a democratic nation where every citizen is responsible to use their fundamental rights to choose the best candidates for the national development.

Here are the role and responsibilities of the citizens before, during and after election.  

Before Election:

·       The citizens have to check their voters' list and make sure that their names, address and age are included,

·       Every citizen should help and support election commission by giving correct information while preparing voter list,

·       They should inform the concerned authority to correct any mistakes in the name, address or the age of the voters.

 

During Election:

·       The citizens have to wait for their turn patiently standing in the queue,

·       They should help the physically challenged people and old citizens to cast vote first,

·       They have to see the ballot paper, find the symbol of the candidate and put the stamp very carefully.

 

After Election:

·       The citizens should patiently wait for the result,

·       They should not get over-excited or depressed in the case of victory or loss of their representative party and should congratulate and support the winner for the program to give a successful ending,

·       Help in the clean campaign to clean papers, bottles and other unwanted waste.
